Chronological Events : Urge For Conservation Of Wong Ah fook Mansion:

26/01/2014 Property's right transferred to new owner
13/02/2014 Notice of vacant from new owner to people staying at the mansion
01/03/2014 to 30/03/2014 Deadline to vacant the premise
17/03/2014 I was approached by people to help. I was told that the place would be converted into high rise building or hotel. They said mansion would be demolished.
18/03/2014 I served letter to lawyer firm asking for more time.
30/03/2014 People hold PC asking for more time to evacuate
03/04/2014 I sent letter to 6 relevant government departments, asking for conservation of the mansions with 6 concrete reasons and also asking for fast action to use whatever legal means to protect the mansion.
14/04/2014 Reply form the gov stating the intention to preserve. The letter also emphases Sultan's decree and intention to preserve since 2012.
24/04/2014 After getting their reply on 21/04/2014, I sent letter to Menteri Besar and Ketua Jabatan Yayasan Warisan Johor again asking for immediate action to serve Notis of Intention and Interim Protection Order.
25/04/2014 "Renovation work" started. Our Stulang team members and local people rushed to the scene to find out what was happening. "I Was told it would be turned into a restaurant".
30/04/2014 I visited Yayasan Warisan to ask for update. I also wrote to Ministry of tourism & heritage and National Heritage Department at Federal level, asking them to act fast and to help in a pro-active manner financially or legally.
30/04/2014 Abt 11:29pm, I was told that the demolishing of the mansion was in progress.

 

 

According to National Heritage Act 2005, section 27 and 33, government can serve a Notice Of Intention and Interim Protection Order to the land owner in order to put on hold any possible developments that may lead to the demolish of the heritage mansion. Even though the mansion is situated at private land, according to the act, section 24, authority concerned can declare any places to be conserved as heritage sites. 根据2005年国家文化遗产法令第27及33条文，有关当局可以向地主发出通知信及限时禁令，来限制任何发展工程以避免文化故居被拆除。此外，根据法令第24条文，有关当局有权利把任何地段列为国家文化遗产。
